In Ravenna, transgender people will be able to have a bus pass with the indication of their chosen name and not their personal name.

The novelty comes from a decision of the local public transport company, Start Romagna, which will not limit the opportunity to the Ravenna area only, thanks to the battle started by a 15-year-old student with the association 'Affetti Oltre il Généra' founded by her parents.

Ravenna would be the first in Italy to have made a similar decision.

The case from which the 'revolution' on public transport subscriptions starts involved a girl who for about three years has started a path for gender self-determination, but who at the moment is still male for the bureaucracy. For this reason, for more than a year, she preferred to buy the single ticket on the journey from home to school because she was unable to get a season ticket, not matching the name normally used with the one still present in the document. The association 'Affetti Beyond the gender' therefore decided to contact Start Romagna and the company responded favorably by proposing an agreement. "Our association - explains the mother of the girl at Resto del Carlino - will provide a free card, with which transgender people will be able to go to the Start ticket offices to obtain the season ticket which, in this way, will be provided with the photo combined with the name of election. A silver stamp will be applied to the association card, readable by the instruments supplied to the controllers, which will make it an identification document to all effects.
