It was reported yesterday that the Israeli defense establishment is concerned about Iran's efforts to smuggle UAVs and air defense systems into Syria and their attempts to exploit proximity to Russia's bases in the country, with an emphasis on the coastline, in order to receive "protection." Last month, meanwhile, the IDF is considering new courses of action against the Iranians in Syria.

Last Wednesday, Syria said that Israel had attacked a military post in the Damascus area, and that damage had been done there.

About two weeks ago, the Assad regime claimed that air defense systems had been activated after surface-to-surface missiles were launched from the northern region toward the Damascus suburbs in broad daylight.

Israel has not commented on a series of recent reports pointing to increased activity in Syria.

Israel continues to declare that it will not allow Iran to establish itself across the border and transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah, which together with it helped the Syrian president survive the uprising against him.
