Mainz - The Rhineland-Palatinate state government is revising its corona warning level plan by next week - including the tests in schools.

It is about stepping on the brakes faster in the warning levels, i.e. getting higher 2G measures a little earlier, said Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) on Tuesday in Mainz.

“We're always talking about the inside.” There is no reason to follow the rules outside.

"We have been in warning level one in Rhineland-Palatinate - for a long time," emphasized Dreyer.

"We are therefore taking the liberty of revising the step-by-step plan by next week."

"In Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria the numbers are very high and we are concerned about that," said Dreyer.

It is clear from the past that “we then have to protect ourselves even more”.

“That is why we decided that we would adjust our warning and phased plans and make them a little more stringent so that we could react early.” Details should be announced after the cabinet meeting next Tuesday.

Rhineland-Palatinate is one of the very first federal states to protect particularly vulnerable groups.

"Since Monday, what is now being decided at the federal level has already been a reality in Rhineland-Palatinate, namely that the employees in old people's homes and hospitals either have to be vaccinated or tested daily."

When vaccinating and refreshing (boosters), the number of vaccination bus appointments has been doubled and there should be ten smaller vaccination centers at the hospitals. Health Minister Clemens Hoch (SPD) will also speak to the doctors again, because the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the general practitioners have promised to carry out the booster vaccinations in their practices. Of the 180 old people's homes, ten percent need support with vaccinations and boosters, which they "of course get immediately".

Dreyer does not currently consider a meeting with the other federal states or the federal government to be necessary.

At the most recent Prime Minister's Conference about three weeks ago, everything was discussed and the current legislative process in the Bundestag takes up what the countries need in the pandemic.

The first reading is already planned for this Thursday;

She welcomes and supports the fact that the federal government obviously wants to reintroduce the free citizen tests.

A system with three warning levels currently applies in Rhineland-Palatinate, on which certain restrictions and countermeasures depend.

The warning levels are in turn based on three guiding values: the number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, the number of Covid 19 patients newly admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days and the proportion of Covid-19 patients in the available intensive care beds.

If two out of three guide values ​​are exceeded on three working days in a row in a district or an urban district, a higher warning level applies.

In schools, tests are not carried out without a reason, but five times in a row if an infection occurs.
