Starting from November 1, all citizens must scan the QR code for "Travel with ease" when entering and exiting government buildings and premises, including markets. Many citizens criticized the inconvenience and reduced access to markets to buy food. The sales of stalls have plummeted.

Chen Hengpin, a member of the DAB Legislative Council, suggested that the government launch a physical version of the "Travel with peace of mind" QR code to facilitate citizens who do not know how to use mobile apps.

Market crowds are reduced

"Hong Kong 01" visited Yeung Uk Road Market in Tsuen Wan earlier. Many citizens crowded at the entrance to scan "Travel with peace of mind" and fill in their personal data. Some citizens ignored the staff inspection and caused conflicts.

Some citizens handed in their ID cards for staff to fill in on their behalf, and some elderly people said that they could not use the app because they did not have a smartphone, lamenting that the new measures were troublesome and inconvenient.

As for the stall vendors, they also lament that their turnover has dropped by nearly half, the flow of people has decreased significantly, and the business has been miserable.

Some vendors pointed out that regular customers said they didn't know how to use mobile apps, so they couldn't enter the market to shop.

Chen Hengpin suggested that the government provide people in need with a QR code for "Traveling with Peace of Mind" and install scanners on government premises.

It is recommended to send a physical QR code and install a scanner at the entrance and exit

Chen Hengpin pointed out that some elderly people reported that they did not know how to use a smart phone, or that although they had a mobile phone, they did not know how to use the "Travel with Peace" program, and they also found it troublesome to write personal information.

And queuing to scan "Travel with peace of mind" or fill in information also causes long queues at the entrance, affecting entry and exit and causing inconvenience.

He suggested that the government provide individuals in need with QR codes for "Travel with peace of mind" and install scanners on government premises so that citizens who do not know how to use mobile apps can quickly scan the QR codes and enter the premises. This arrangement can also be gradually extended to other non-governmental premises such as shopping malls.

The government should also deploy more manpower to assist the public.

Chen Hengpin has signed up to participate in the Legislative Council Southwest New Territories Election. Those in the same district include Chen Yingxin from the Federation of Trade Unions and Liu Cheuk Yu from the independent democrats.
