TSV Burgberg volleyball players rip off the front runner

Burgberg - The Burgberg volleyball players are second in the table of the Volleyball Bayern League South after their 3-0 home win.

With a brilliant team performance, a brilliantly presented Selina Aksan on serve and a sovereign three-set win, Burgberg's volleyball players set the first clear exclamation mark in the current Bayern league season on Sunday at the “home game” in the Heribert-Wilhelm-Sporthalle.

In the duel with the previously unbeaten front runner Eichenau, the Burgbergers didn't really give their guests a chance in front of around ninety spectators.

Although the Upper Bavarians took the lead immediately after the game kicked off, they also defended it after equalizing and falling behind.

At 16:20, trainer Robin Wirth was forced to take the second time-out in the first set.

An extremely clever move that should turn the game around.

The immediately following point went to the Burgbergers and the outstanding hour of outside attacker Selina Aksan began.

Completely callous and unimpressed by the brisk start of the guests, Aksan put a series of serve of five points in a row on the floor, which made the opponents almost desperate.

The number “2” was not deterred by an opposing break and finally brought the home team into the front with 21:20.

The Burgbergers countered the following equalization to the "21 both" confidently and did not allow themselves to take the lead again until they won the set 25:23.

A convincing performance by the Wirth troupe with a really strong nerves at this point in time, who rightly rewarded themselves with the 1-0 lead.

That this strong performance had left its mark on the guests became immediately apparent at the beginning of the second movement.

After a service error by Eichenau at the start of the set, Burgberg's player with jersey number "2" came back to serve on the line.

And again, the Eichenau women did not find an adequate remedy against the powerful and placed serves by Selina Aksan, who led her team to a 6-0 lead with another series and literally carried the team away.

The powerful Burgberg serve - coach Wirth's problem child in the first two games of the season - became a real weapon and brought the hosts point by point, much to the frustration of the guests.

Three points

As a result, Eichenau was only rarely able to counter with good attacks, and so, in return, setter Milena Bauch, as usual confidently on the field, succeeded in staging her attackers one after the other brilliantly.

And although the defense of the Eichenau women was quite impressive, Anna Hilbrand and Selina Aksan prevailed over the outside position and Mareike Haag and Katja Hilbrand over the middle.

And so the second as well as the third and decisive set ultimately went safely to the Oberallgäu women.

After just 85 minutes, the team earned three points and earned second place in the Bayernliga Süd.
