The top remains vacant: the Otterfing Alpine Club section did not succeed in electing a new chairman to succeed Robert Blümke.

For now, an experienced quartet will take the lead.

The search for a new boss continues.

Otterfing

- After nine years in office, Robert Blümke, the previous chairman of the Otterfing Alpine Club section, was no longer available for re-election.

He asserts private reasons for this and also announced his withdrawal in the run-up to the recent annual general meeting.

But there was no successor in the meeting.

From the ranks of the 43 members who appeared, no applicants came forward for the post.

"We had approached possible candidates in advance," reports secretary Thomas Rychly, "but unfortunately only received rejections." Four experienced board members jump into the breach, who will lead the association until the next meeting in April - and offer the new man until then or to train the new woman at the top.

The number of staff on the board fits

"The situation is not as dramatic as it might sound," says Rychly. The number of staff on the board is appropriate, since there is now also a third chairman in Manfred Breu. Breu was unanimously confirmed in office at the meeting, as was the vice chairwoman Sabine Strossenreuther, secretary Rychly and treasurer Hermann Mann. The quartet has many years of DAV experience. Strossenreuther would have been the "logical" successor to Blümke; Since she is employed full-time at the DAV, compliance rules prevent her from being an association chairman.

"We can take over the tasks of the section for the time being, even with a reduced board," emphasizes Rychly.

The post of youth officer will remain vacant for the time being, after the long-time incumbent Barbara Reichenbach no longer stood for election.

Applicants are incorporated

It is planned that one of the largest associations in the district (2700 members) will fill both the top position and the youth sector at the meeting in April. "We wish that it is someone who really feels like doing the job," says Rychly. In addition to enjoying mountaineering, the newcomer must be willing to spend a few hours a week on administrative tasks. The digitization of the section offer, which is due soon, has to be organized. The umbrella organization has already announced the rollout. Anyone who is interested in the chair will be trained by the experienced team for a few months before taking full responsibility.

The dominant topic of previous years, the renovation of the Gamshütte, is ticked off.

The new chairman, however, is faced with the task of making the section climate-neutral by 2030 in accordance with a DAV specification;

This affects trips into the mountains, for example.

While the focus was most recently on the Gamshütte in the distant Zillertal, according to Rychly, the section is now obliged to create more sporting activities in the vicinity, for example climbing opportunities for young people, for reasons of climate protection.
