Occupied Jerusalem-SANA

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki affirmed that the United Nations' vote on five resolutions in favor of the Palestinian cause is evidence of the international community's firm position on the rights of the Palestinian people in light of the continuing crimes of the Israeli occupation and its non-compliance with international law.

Al-Maliki said in a statement today, carried by Wafa Agency, that the resolutions voted on affirm the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the right to self-determination and the right of refugees to return to their homes and to preserve the continuity of UNRWA's work, noting that these resolutions will be adopted later in the General Assembly.

Al-Maliki called on the countries that opposed the decisions and those that retracted their positions to review themselves and respect the principles of international law and not encourage the occupation to persist in its crimes against the Palestinians.

The Fourth Committee of the General Assembly on political issues and decolonization adopted by an overwhelming majority last night five resolutions in the interest of the Palestinian cause.
