Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said he responded today (Wednesday) to criticism of his government and said it was under attack for the very idea of sitting parties from the political extremes together.
"This is a worrying development," Bennett Baumu said at a state ceremony in memory of former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion to mark the 48th anniversary of his death.
"These days we are witnessing a lot of noise, a lot of shouting, screaming and we are trying to understand what the essence of the controversy is today, what the controversy is about," Bennett noted.

Apart from Bennett, the ceremony was also attended by President Yitzhak Herzog, ministers and Knesset members, Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai and Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi.

"It seems that the internal tension in Israel has reached its peak. This mission to strengthen statehood rests on our shoulders, elected officials. Statehood must be restored to its former glory. It is permissible to visit and sometimes it is desirable to visit but not to drop statehood."
