The prosecution requested Wednesday, November 10 before the Criminal Court of Châteauroux four years in prison, including a suspended sentence, against the main manager of the company Coveix, accused of having sold millions of surgical masks made in China by passing them off as French.

The deputy public prosecutor of Châteauroux, Wiebke Trumm, also requested a fine of 30,000 euros as well as the ban on running a business against the main defendant, aged 61.
According to the magistrate, "
thanks to an obvious bluff
", the latter managed to sell millions of Chinese surgical masks, passing them off as masks manufactured by him in France.

The deception was revealed following an inspection by the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) in February, following several reports.
The judgment was reserved on January 12.
