The two large cultural centers in the district are reacting to the incidence and pulling the rip cord: The Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach and the Kultur im Oberbräu in Holzkirchen are taking a Corona break.

Miesbach / Holzkirchen

- The infection numbers in the Miesbach district seem to be in the middle of an exponential increase, the hospital traffic light is now also red in all of Bavaria. The two large communally operated cultural centers in the district have now pulled the rip cord: Both are taking a Corona break.

Silence has returned to the largest cultural center in the district, the Waitzinger Keller in the city of Miesbach.

The decision was made on Monday afternoon during a conversation with Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller and Managing Director Gerhard Führer.

"Have to show solidarity"

“It doesn't help if you have the infrastructure and nobody comes,” says Krobisch.

It would be better to shut down operations right away.

"The incidence figures are terrible," says Krobisch, "we have to show solidarity."

Even if it is frustrating: As a communal institution, they want to send a clear message.

It is still open which of the planned events will be postponed and which will have to be canceled entirely.

"We are still in the process of clarifying this and will announce this in the program on the homepage," announced the head of the cultural office.

Kultur im Oberbräu wants to reassess the situation from the end of November

The Kultur im Oberbräu in Holzkirchen also decided to take a break after a team meeting on Tuesday. The market town's cultural center has canceled all events up to and including Wednesday, November 24, 2021, said spokesman Alexander Harlander. The Fools Theater and the ballroom will remain closed for this period. The Fools Cinema, which Tom Modlinger operates independently of the Kulturhaus on the top floor of the building, and the Kulturcafé in the foyer on the ground floor as a restaurant remain unaffected and open under the current regulations.

Several performances by the Team Theater with “Theater”, the Fools Ensemble with “Pettersson and Findus” and the Ensemble Federspiel with “Waldesruh” (including coffee, cake and culture) as well as concerts by Michael are affected by the cancellation at Kultur im Oberbräu Fitz and the Holzkirchen Symphony Orchestra.

How things will continue from November 25, 2021, when a swing evening with the Nicki Parrott All Stars is on the program, the Holzkirchner Kulturhaus is currently still open: "We have to look at how the corona situation develops," says Harlander.

Last week, the two cultural centers canceled two large events with several hundred visitors each at short notice.
