In view of stricter rules and the skyrocketing number of cases, the demand for corona vaccinations skyrockets.

The county and the doctors are struggling to cope with the onslaught.

District Administrator Stefan Löwl emphasizes: "The vaccine and the vaccination opportunities are there." The citizens only need a little patience.

Dachau - The district has been vaccinating decentrally since September.

That means: every day there is a vaccination opportunity at a different location in the district.

Those responsible can use a total of 1000 syringes per week.

Until recently, the demand was between 500 and 600.

But the situation has been different for a few days.

At the vaccination appointment yesterday at Karlsfelder See, the long queue in front of the Johanniter vaccination bus could already be seen from a distance.

The mood in view of the waiting time was bad among those willing to vaccinate - and the Johanniter employees also gasped at the workload.

"I had to wait two hours for my turn - that's not how you motivate people to vaccinate," said a gentleman as he got off the vaccination bus. “Standing out here in the cold at my age is really exhausting,” said an older lady, visibly frozen. Not only were older patients waiting in line, some young adults and teenagers also came to collect their syringes. "Otherwise my son will no longer be able to go to handball training," says a sad mother about her teenage son, who just nods his head with a headache. Apparently the stricter 2G regulation had changed some people to get vaccinated. The pressure is now too great, report other people waiting. A young man confirmed: "I now also need the vaccination for my work." A 16-year-old said hesitantly:“I only get vaccinated because as an unvaccinated person you would otherwise no longer have the opportunity to take part in public life. But actually I would have preferred to wait a little longer because I'm still very young. "

District Administrator Stefan Löwl cannot understand when people wanting to be vaccinated - as happened yesterday in Karlsfeld - go to the responsible persons because of the waiting time. Especially those who want a first vaccination at the moment could have got it for months without any effort or waiting time. "Unfortunately, we cannot meet the expectation that someone here today wants an injection immediately." The vaccine is there, the vaccination opportunities are there - everything that is needed these days for first, second or third vaccinations is a bit patience.

But Löwl does not want to overstrain this patience either.

In view of yesterday's scenes in Karlsfeld, the district will increase its weekly offer to 1,500 vaccination opportunities.

In addition, there will again be "person-group-specific" offers, such as vaccination campaigns for teachers or firefighters.

What will no longer exist - or can no longer exist - is a "vaccination turbo" with 10,000 vaccinations per week, as the district set up last spring.

But a peak of at least 3,000 vaccinations per week could - if necessary - be achieved through the decentralized vaccination offers, said Löwl.

Does he regret it today that the district closed its two vaccination centers in Dachau and Karlsfeld at the end of September and - as reported - instead only opted for decentralized solutions? Löwl is clear here: The closure was politically wanted in Munich, especially since the doctors' representatives had always declared that they would be able to cope with the autumn rush for third-party vaccinations - and the flu vaccinations - at the same time. In the district of Dachau they said “consciously: From now on the vaccination will come to the people, we will get closer to the people”!

According to Löwl, the vaccination situation at the old people's homes is satisfactory: the vaccination teams made every facility an offer. “The homes that wanted were visited.” The same applies to the schools. Of course, emphasizes Löwl, there is “a lot of catching up to do” among children from the age of twelve. But here, too, Löwl emphasizes: "Everyone could have been vaccinated." He couldn't understand the surprise of some parents.

In order to get any waiting times before the vaccination appointments - whether in Karlsfeld or elsewhere - under control, especially in the winter months, the pandemic group in the district office will today also consider whether there should be another control of the visitors in the form of time windows. Providing the appropriate IT here - possibly also via the BayImco registration portal across Bavaria - must now be developed in the coming weeks. “Raising the capacity is not a problem. The logistics behind it, however, cannot be made for a few days. "

The good news: According to supply doctor Dr.

Christian Günzel, doctors' surgeries are now also reporting a “gratifying increase in those willing to be vaccinated”.

And, more good news: the schools in the district would continue to get through the fourth wave well.

According to Löwl, there were only 19 positive test results in the district schools on Monday.

Compared to other counties, this is "very manageable".
