Finding an apartment in Munich is not child's play - but maybe with the help of the children it will at least be a little easier.

The host family of the Asam Schlössl has this hope.

Munich - A colorful house, cute stick figures and lots of flowers: If you are currently stopping at Asam Schlössl, you will not only find the menu at the table, but also a postcard with pink letters and a children's drawing.

Behind this is an unusual request: The host family needs a new home - they have to get out of the current house in Solln at the beginning of next year because of their own needs ...

Munich: Host family urgently needs a new apartment - there are requirements

“A house or an apartment with at least four rooms to rent” is what the host family Barbara (47) and Shane McMahon (51) with their daughter (6) and their son (5) would like.

The most important thing is: “The property should be near the Asam Schlössl.

We are open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and often have to drive back and forth, we need short distances. ”It is also important to them that they have an eat-in kitchen.

"As a family, we really enjoy being in the kitchen and it's nice to be able to chat while we're at it."

Thousands of families in Munich are like the McMahons - and because you somehow stand out in the difficult search in the city, the famous restaurateur couple came up with this idea.

“I don't want to advertise on the internet.

We believe that you have more chances through contacts - in this case through our many dear guests. ”And since the children also want to stay in the area, they helped and reached for their colored pencils.

"We want to feel comfortable there - and stay there in the long term"

The new house or apartment is not supposed to be just any kind of accommodation.

“We want to feel comfortable there - and stay there for the long term,” says Barbara McMahon, who has been running the Asam Schlössl with her husband, an experienced cook, after ten years in Shane's Restaurant (Dreimühlenviertel) since September 2020.

Despite Corona, business is going well.

“The Schlössl is simply a historical jewel.

We want to work here for a long time. ”And live nearby.

The future landlord (please send information to info@asamschloessl.de) will receive a special reward.

The landlords don't give away money, they give away enjoyment.

"We could imagine a cooking or grill course or a menu ..."

Asam Schlössl in Munich: From an artist's villa to a cult bar

The magnificent Thalkirchen building in which the Asam Schlössl restaurant is located dates back to 1687. The baroque artist Cosmas Damian Asam, who acquired it in 1724, had frescoes attached to the facade and a palace garden laid out - the cornerstone for today's extraordinary gastronomy -Hostel.

Since 1992 this has belonged to the artist villa of the Augustiner brewery.

A year later a restaurant was housed here.

Birgit Netzle, daughter of the recently deceased restaurateur Toni Netzle, became the landlady.

It made the Schlössl a well-known restaurant that also attracted many celebrities.

Netzle retired in 2019 at the age of 65.

After extensive renovation, the Gastropaar McMahon took over.
