Scandal at the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
This week, the Israeli delegation recorded great achievements in one of the most prestigious competitions in the world round, which took place in Bao Dhabi.
One of the highlights of the tournament was 17-year-old Amit Burstein, who won the gold medal in the 60 kg category, but his achievement was overshadowed by a particularly ugly moment.
At the end of the competition, during the "Hatikva" performance at the medal ceremony, the Kazakh opponent (who finished in third place) was seen sitting on the podium, kneeling defiantly in order not to honor the Israeli national anthem.
It should be noted that in second place and in the silver medal in the same competition, another Kazakh opponent won, but it actually chose to honor the Israeli winner, when he stood throughout the anthem.
Either way, the young Burstein summed up his marvelous competition, noting, "I'm happy to reap the rewards of very hard work. I thank my coach Amir Boaron, my nuclear family, the MMA ISRAEL family, and everyone who played a part in it."
It should be noted that the jiu jitsu industry is not an Olympic industry and is under the auspices of the ILAT Association (the Israeli Association for Non-Olympic Competitive Sports).
