Friends of France rely on their board

The German-French Association Germering (DFVG) has confirmed its board of directors in office almost unchanged. However, there will certainly be changes in the next new elections in 2023.

The German-French Association Germering (DFVG) has confirmed its board of directors in office almost unchanged.

However, there will certainly be changes in the next new elections in 2023.

Germering -

Altrud Heinrich admitted before the ballot for chairwoman of the DFVG that she had thought for a long time whether she would run again. Once again, one could almost add. Because eight years ago, with her willingness to run, she saved the association from dissolution. In 2019 she made herself available again in the absence of other candidates. Now, at the age of 80, she says: “The members are so great at the events, I can't say no.” The 26 members present honored this. The DFVG has a total of almost 80, with one vote without a dissenting vote.

The same applied to the confirmed Fritz Schalamon (deputy), Gabriele Sierp (treasurer), Christian Zorn (secretary) and Johanna Berger (assessor).

On the other hand, the previous second assessor Maximilian Kusma said “No” to another candidacy (see box).

He justified this by referring to his age - Kusma is 85 years old.

Despite some calls, his position was not filled at the annual general meeting, which was scheduled nine months late due to the corona.

The former treasurer Hannelore Biffar, who took over the office of auditor from Ingrid Haller, can be classified as a returnee.

The second auditor Irmi Utz was confirmed.

The board of directors has firmly envisaged that the 40th anniversary should be made up for in the coming year.

One of the reasons why Mayor Andreas Haas confirmed to the DFVG in view of Corona: "It takes a lot to keep an association alive in such a situation."

Therefore, one does not want to rule out the possibility of catching up on the trip to Aachen that was canceled in 2020 in the coming year.

However, Heinrich reported that the enthusiasm at the neighborhood association of the twin town Domont was rather manageable.

The deputy chairman, Shalamon, envisaged May or June 2022.

"You can still cancel if the situation makes it necessary," said the deputy.

The increasing Corona numbers, which already led to a number of cancellations in 2020, worry the association insofar as this scenario could repeat itself: "Keep your fingers crossed for all of us that we don't have to hand over the Christmas party to Corona again," said Heinrich.

In the end, she gave the members time to think about it: "Please think about running for a position on the board by January or February 2023."

20 years on the board are enough for an 85-year-old

After 20 years on the board of the Franco-German Association, Maximilian Kusma decided not to run again.

"It was a great time with many experiences, but it is enough now," said the 85-year-old at the annual meeting.

In terms of health, he now wants to take it easy.

When the press informed him that the DFVG had been founded, he came to the association in 1981.

“With the family”, as Maximilian Kusma emphasizes.

However, he did not join the board until he was retired.

Assessor, secretary, deputy chairman - these offices were held by Kusma for the association, which in its prime had well over 300 members.

He has fond memories of “the many encounters and contacts”.

"We have helped to break down the borders," said Kusma.

Today you would hardly notice a limit, which in his opinion also means that the association has almost no new members.

But Kusma did not want to make a big fuss about his appreciation by chairwoman Altrud Heinrich: "I am only one of 20 members who have been with us for 40 years."
