With an incidence of 336.5 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, the district is a local corona hotspot.

The carnival society is canceling the 2021/2022 carnival season in view of the increasing number of infections, and numerous Christmas markets will not take place.

Dachau - The good news: The Dachau Christmas market will take place despite the currently stricter Corona rules. However, 2G will apply to visitors with access controls at the entrance. “We want people to feel safe,” says Christian Naumann from the Christkindlmarktverein.

This concept is also currently coordinated with the district administration, according to Naumann. “That is simply the most sensible thing.” Because, like elsewhere, setting up the market stalls far apart, the old town does not offer this option, there is no space for it. With 2G, however, everything can run “as always” at the Christmas market, which has always been fenced off. There is no need to pay attention to distances, and no masks are worn. Mulled wine and bratwurst can be enjoyed quite relaxed. "I think that will find a good acceptance," says Christian Naumann. The Christmas market opens on November 21, market Sunday. To begin with, visitors can stroll between the market stalls from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market stalls then open on weekdays from 3 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and on weekends from 12 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.There will also be the usual supporting program and the municipal Advent calendar campaign.

Cancellation of Christmas markets

There is no Christmas market on Ernst-Reuter-Platz.

"We were afraid to drive the infection process," says Susanne Reichl-Weichselbaumer, chairwoman of the advertising association performance from Dachau (LAD), which organizes the market.

The Christmas markets have already been canceled in many communities, such as in Hilgertshausen and Tandern.

The two Christmas markets in Hebertshausen and Ampermoching also do not take place, just like in Schwabhausen and Bergkirchen.

Elsewhere it is still in the balance whether the markets can take place, such as in Karlsfeld or Markt Indersdorf.

Carnival society pulls the rip cord

The Dachau Carnival has also been canceled again. At least the carnival society decided that for itself. The first event would have been the proclamation on November 20th. However, according to the current status, unvaccinated students over the age of twelve could not have come or only with a valid PCR test. "About two thirds of our dancers are over twelve years old and not all of them have full vaccination protection", reports chairwoman Michaela Zachmann. A show like this would not have been possible - or only with the exclusion of these children. “We cannot expect parents to have an expensive PCR test done for their children before every event,” adds Zachmann.

“Last year, everyone's health was most important to us,” says Zachmann.

"We don't want to go through the whole season this year either - we'd rather pull the ripcord first." Of course, the rehearsals have been in vain so far, but she is considering alternative actions.

"That hurts my heart too."

Is an outdoor children's ball possible?

Can we organize a dance evening for seniors without performing?

How can we motivate our active people?

These are questions that the Executive Board will now be asking itself.

"The children in particular are very disappointed," says Zachmann, adding: "That hurts my heart too."
