Nir Strauss plays "Zeida" in the play "Some Days", an adaptation of Meir Shalev's book that is coming up at the Cameri Theater. It happens after small roles in series like "Gallis" and "Miller Junction" "I was very stressed", he confesses

After playing small roles in series such as "Gallis", "On the Spectrum" and "Miller Junction" and in plays at Beit Lessin and the Be'er Sheva Theater, actor Nir Strauss (32) is about to get his time on stage.

This will happen in the play "Some Days," an adaptation of Meir Shalev's book, which is coming up at the Cameri Theater this weekend.

The play takes place in the pre-state period in the Jezreel Valley, and at its center is the love story of three men for one woman.

Her son, Zeida, actually had three fathers without knowing who his real father was.

The plot spans about 30 years, from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Hanan Snir and Dana Yadlin are responsible for the arrangement, and Snir also directs.

Strauss plays the character of Zeida, and alongside him play Ola Schur-Selector, Rami Baruch, Moti Katz, Micha Selector, Dana Meinert, Dan Shapira and more.

"I read the book in honor of the role," says Strauss.

"It's a spectacular, extraordinary, non-linear book. Zeida is the narrator, and in fact the whole play is his memory that describes the sequence of events."

Meir Shalev came to rehearsals?

"No. He gave Hanan Snir full freedom, and I think that's very important. There's no doubt that the play is not the book. It's a different work. As Hanan says, a book can be read, put down and returned to. All the time".

Were you happy to get a major role in the show?

"Hanan Bee's choice was a very big statement. He entrusted me with a significant role, which means he trusts me. When I was jumped on a very short notice to replace an actor in the play 'Genius in a Cage,' I was very stressed. Hanan reassured me and said, 'The theater trusts you, otherwise "He would not let you do that." And that helped me gain confidence. "

Zeida in the show is left an orphan after his mother dies, and you too lost your parents at a young age.

Your mother died of cancer when you were 12, and your father died of a heart attack when you were 14. Do you identify with the character?

"The orphan Meir Shalev wrote is not the orphan I am. I do not hide my story in the rehearsal room, but I am first and foremost an actor who plays a role. I have a responsibility to tell Zeida's story and not my own story. I assume my personal story has added value to the audience. "Because I know how to convey the feeling of losing a mother at a young age."

Seven years have passed since you graduated in acting.

Do you feel you are in a good place?

"I think you should always strive for more, but I'm very happy with the role. I'm very connected to it. I like the show and the cast that consists of the actors' solitaire and fat."
