Local entrances: Habach votes again - close or leave open?

2021-11-10T11:07:59.702Z

Although the Habach municipal council had already voted in the summer on which town entrances should be closed in the course of the construction of the new cross-connection towards Antdorf, it was now discussed and voted on again. Why? Wasn't the first result the way you wanted it?

Although the Habach municipal council had already voted in the summer on which town entrances should be closed in the course of the construction of the new cross-connection towards Antdorf, it was now discussed and voted on again.

Why?

Wasn't the first result the way you wanted it?

Habach

- Should Antdorfer Straße, which leads from Iffeldorf into Habach, be closed once the cross connection from the Habacher roundabout to the north has been built?

The Habach municipal council had already discussed this in detail at its meeting at the end of August and then voted with a large majority in favor of reducing Antdorfer Straße to a purely agricultural road (we reported).

All the greater is the astonishment of some of those present at the latest municipal council meeting that the pros and cons of the road closure have now been discussed and voted on again.

Mayor: In August it was a "trial vote"

When asked, Mayor Michael Strobl explained this by stating that the vote at the end of August was a “trial vote” in order to first sound out the basic tenor in the local council. But it could be, admitted the community chief, that this had not been said clearly enough for the audience.

Perhaps not clear enough for some local councils either? While Marion Reiner thinks she remembers that the trial vote had been pointed out, Michael Aigner jun. no longer say with one hundred percent certainty. In principle, according to Aigner, trial votes are not even allowed in public council meetings - at least not if a vote is required on the relevant item on the agenda. However, this should have been noted in the written notice for the meeting. Which was not the case in this case.

In the case of non-public building committee meetings, on the other hand, trial votes would occur - even if only "very rarely for larger matters," said Aigner.

Before making important decisions, it could make sense to discuss and vote on them and, after a period of reflection, to consult and vote again.

Strobl campaigned for Antdorfer Strasse to be left open

Before the first (trial) vote, Mayor Strobl was the only one who campaigned intensively to keep Antdorfer Strasse open and described this as a “historic opportunity” for the village.

At the time, however, he was unable to assert himself with this view.

In the most recent session, the pros and cons were first debated again - without any really new arguments on the table.

Mayor Strobl justified the repeated debate on demand by saying that since August new knowledge has been gained about how many farmers actually use Antdorfer Straße on the way to their fields - and, in the event of a road closure, their agricultural machines through the village in the future would have to drive.

Only a narrow majority in favor of closure

Such arguments had apparently led to a rethink in some councils.

Because in the current vote, at least five council members voted not to close Antdorfer Straße.

Two councilors were absent, and six members - and thus only a narrow majority - voted for the road to be closed, not least for reasons of road safety.

In view of this now much tighter result, Marion Reiner suggested that the State Building Authority in Weilheim should consider how the entrance to the town could be left open without the confluence with the new cross-section becoming a danger point;

for example by a speed limit of 70 on the new route.

The Weilheim authority is currently planning a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour on the new bypass.

City council discusses road layout in Dürnhausen again

The future road layout in the Dürnhausen district was also discussed and voted on again.

In this case, too, the local council had actually already spoken out in favor of reducing the driveway from the direction of Sindelsdorf to a purely agricultural road.

Recently, however, members of the citizens' initiative made representations and suggested that the road coming from Antdorf into Dürnhausen should be closed, Strobl said.

However, the committee remained unanimous in its original decision - among other things because the councils estimate the traffic pressure from the truck traffic from the gravel works there to be higher than from the direction of Antdorf.
