A 27-year-old man, suspected of four sexual assaults and an attempted rape in the Loire, was indicted and imprisoned on Wednesday, November 10, AFP learned from the Saint-Etienne prosecutor's office.

The arrest of this man hitherto unknown to justice took place Monday at his home in Puy-de-Dôme, following a reconciliation of his DNA profile with that of an individual prosecuted last September for exhibition sexual in this department.
Originally from Firminy (Loire), he is suspected of having committed these assaults since March 2016 and in 2017 for an attempted rape.
Five other sexual assaults or attempted rapes, committed in Puy-de-Dôme and for which he is suspected, have not yet been added to his file.
At the end of his removal, after two days in police custody, the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) of Saint-Etienne pronounced his imprisonment on Wednesday at the detention center of La Talaudière (Loire).
"Women aged 15 to 50" assaulted
The known victims are "
women from 15 to 50 years old, assaulted while they were alone in public places, early in the morning or late at night
", declared to AFP the public prosecutor of Saint- Etienne, David Charmatz. "
Four of them formally recognized this man who admits to having committed acts of violence, but not of sexual assault
", he continued.
Among them, an 18-year-old girl declared in September 2019 that she had suffered sexual assault by a masked individual while she was waiting for a train at Fraisses (Loire) station.
DNA traces found on his pants had made it possible to isolate a male genetic profile already recorded in the National Automated DNA File (FNAEG), but not yet identified.

This same profile was present in four other cases of sexual assault and attempted rape committed in the neighboring municipalities of Firminy and Unieux.
