Nobel Peace Prize laureate and education activist Malala Yousafzai has announced her marriage to a senior member of the Pakistan Cricket Committee, her homeland.

The 24-year-old human rights activist survived a Taliban assassination attempt in 2012 only because she dared to want an education, contrary to the organization's extremist ideology.

"Today is a precious day in my life," Yosefzai tweeted, posting photos from the marriage ceremony for Aser Malek.

"Aser and I made an alliance to be partners for life. We celebrated with a small Nika ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please pray for us. We are excited to march together towards the journey ahead." Clinton.

After the assassination attempt, Yousafzai flew to the English city of Birmingham for medical treatment and her family eventually joined her.

She returned to school after recovering, and continued to work for the right to education for other girls.

She became the youngest winner of the Nobel Prize when she shared the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize with Indian child rights activist Kailash Stiarti for their work for children and education rights.

Last year she graduated from Oxford University.
