Hapoel Eilat is in a good position to advance to the quarterfinals after beating Kiev 62:71 tonight (Wednesday) in Ukraine.
Meaning: Next week's victory over Polish Sopot - in the final game of the early house - and Hapoel Eilat advance to the next stage in the European Cup.
Eilat secured the victory with a 4:14 run at the start of the fourth quarter, which raised it to an 11th advantage that it knew how to maintain until the end.
It was Meron Roina's week.
After breaking a career record in the league, also against Kiev provided an excellent game with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Brion Allen was the man of the match with 19 points and 13 assists.
No less than at the end of the second, third and fourth quarters he scored a three on the buzzer.
The latter was, as mentioned, at the end of the game, which set a 9 advantage and also a growing question over Kiev in the internal match between them (Kiev won in Eilat by 8 points).
Which basically means that Eilat's victory against Sopot will not only give it a place in the next stage - but also a rise from first place.
