Poing - The Poingen association OstEuropaHilfe has once again brought relief goods to the Belarusian city of Gomel in the Chernobyl restricted area.

Because of the Corona regulations and other circumstances, no club members were able to personally accompany the transport this time, reports board member Helgrid Schörghofer.

As has been the case for years, the people of Poing have worked together this time with the association Tschernobyl-Hilfe Nordschwaben from Aindling.

The relief supplies were transported to Gomel by the Belarusian forwarding company Neyfeld near Brest.

According to Schörghofer, around one and a half tons of goods were on board, mainly clothing, shoes, blankets, bed linen, office supplies and children's toys.

"After a few days, we received the hoped-for message from our partner organization in Gomel that the transport had arrived safely and that the truck had been unloaded," she writes in her report.

Aid transport to Gomel: the next transport is already fixed

In addition, the association had been informed that the delivery from June "was finally released by the authorities in Gomel and distributed by our partner organization".

The next aid transport from OstEuropaHilfe is planned for spring 2022.

Because the warehouse is already full, an acceptance stop will apply immediately, it says on the website.

The Poinger Verein was founded in 2014 and sees its task in supporting people and groups of people in need in Eastern Europe.

Among other things, kindergartens and homes are supplied, and club members are often involved in the transports.
