Sustainability in the nursery

Magical for the youngsters, nothing off the shelf, but always special.

To do this, focus on sustainability and let your own creativity run free: That's "Frieda with a heart".

With their small company, Sandra Kübelsbeck from Wartenberg and Lisa Hohmann from Eitting have realized their dream of self-employment.

Wartenberg / Eitting - The two friends have been running an online shop for special children's fashion, including accessories and rattan furniture, for around two years.

The first “baby” was recently born, on October 1st: Since that date there has also been a small Frieda heart shop in Landshut.

The topic of “sustainability” has long since outgrown its infancy and is playing an increasingly important role.

The same is true for the two founders.

When Kübelsbeck became the mother of a son two and a half years ago and took parental leave, this topic came more and more into focus.

The project manager has always been creative.

It was then also a wish to design my own fashion.

The 27-year-old Hohmann was also taken with the idea.

So the two friends, who knew each other from the waiters in Erding, thought about how they could implement their idea.

It quickly became clear that the focus should be on baby and children's items.

“Self-designed, handmade, and knowing where it comes from” is the credo.

So the two got to work, drawing, sewing or making accessories.

You don't do everything yourself, for example pacifier straps and rainbows, however.

They also often make bed snakes themselves.

They have their clothes sewn and rattan furniture made.

What the two young women manage completely themselves, however, are the sale and shipping of the goods.

They acquired their know-how themselves because they have always been interested in design and fashion, and Hohmann also works in this area.

The ideas for the designs come from the two entrepreneurs themselves, such as the designed children's clothing.

What are the sustainable or environmentally friendly materials?

For example muslin, which is made from 100 percent cotton.

In addition to baby rompers and children's clothing up to size 122/128, the two also have muslin bed linen, warming blankets or soft bed snakes in various sizes in their range.

There are no limits to creativity, say the two of them.

The name "Frieda" is an abbreviation of Sandra Kübelsbeck's second first name, Elfriede. And the heart stands for the lifeblood of the two. Mums of boys will also find what they are looking for, because there are collections in neutral colors. “As a young mum, I look at it,” reveals Kübelsbeck with a laugh. For her, however, it is particularly important “that we only use fabrics and materials that children feel comfortable with and that I would also wear to my Leon”. And a piece of advice at the small coffee bar in the shop tastes good to everyone - including dads.

There is also individual rattan furniture and accessories.

The assortment ranges from cute rabbit mirrors to baby cots, plus gift ideas such as pacifier straps, rainbows or cuddly towels.

There are also dried flowers and decorative items.

"We have found our own style," says Kübelsbeck happily, who understands this style to mean implementing her own ideas in a sustainable and practical way.

"We are very proud when we have designed something and that it is actually worn."

The small shop in Landshut also sells products from other labels that match the range.

“It is important that you support each other.

We are in the same boat, ”say the two of them.

Speaking of support: "It wouldn't work without our families," emphasize the founders, who still work part-time elsewhere.

“Otherwise we would not have been able to finance the shop at all,” they say openly and honestly.

Hohmann works as an employee.

She and Kübelsbeck take turns working in the shop.

In addition, both families are actively helping.
