The construction of the bridge at the Holzkirchen junction has reached the next interim destination.

The first segment of the temporary bridge will be lifted in the coming weekend (November 12th to 15th).

The lanes to the south have to be moved for this, there are obstructions.

- The columns, consisting of special sheet pile walls, are anchored and aligned. The temporary bridge can now come to the Holzkirchen motorway junction. Traffic will roll on the temporary bridge while the old bridge is being replaced by a new one. The three segments are lifted in on the November weekends, starting next weekend (November 12th to 15th) with the section above the lane towards Salzburg.

As reported by the Autobahn GmbH branch in southern Bavaria, the gradual development of traffic management will begin on Friday, November 12th at 3 p.m., with one lane being blocked in each direction.

All traffic is placed on the road to Munich with two lanes in each direction, so that the temporary bridge can be raised over the road in the direction of Salzburg without risk.

On the Monday before rush-hour traffic, all lanes are open again

In the night from Sunday to Monday between midnight and 3 a.m., traffic to the south in Holzkirchen is even diverted. Motorists take the B 318 to the exit in the industrial area north (Bergfeldstraße), turn over the bridge there and drive back to the motorway entrance in the direction of Salzburg. During these three hours, only one lane is available in the direction of Munich. According to Autobahn GmbH, all six lanes should be free again on Monday around 5 a.m., before rush hour traffic.

The same game is on the weekend of November 19-22, when the bridge section is to be used over the road to Munich.

The third single-lift weekend from November 26th to 29th will not be closed to the continuous A8.

The part of the bridge there is lifted in via the parallel lane in the direction of Munich.

The traffic then flows directly through the gas station and rest area to the B 318. At a construction site traffic light, you can continue on the B 318 to Holzkirchen or on the A 8 to Munich.

The new bridge should be ready by the end of 2023

The temporary bridge is to take over traffic from mid-December.

The plan is to demolish the old bridge in two nights at the beginning of 2022.

This now shows considerable damage in the form of cracks and concrete flaking.

In order to facilitate subsequent renovation, the new bridge structure will be built, as is usual with four-lane roads, in the form of two adjacent three-span bridges.

The first should be ready by the end of 2022.

Autobahn GmbH expects the second part of the bridge to be completed by the end of 2023.

Each bridge takes up two lanes, spanning 120 meters.

Together, the bridges are 23 meters wide.
