New York-Sana
The General Assembly's Fourth Committee on Political and Decolonization Issues adopted by an overwhelming majority last night a resolution in favor of the "occupied Syrian Golan".
144 countries voted in favor of the resolution, 22 abstained, and only the United States and the occupying entity opposed it. The United Nations General Assembly is supposed to consider this resolution during the month of December.
The resolution demands the occupation entity to comply with the resolutions related to the occupied Syrian Golan, especially Resolution No. 497 of 1981, which is null and void and has no legal effect. It also condemns the occupation's violations of the Geneva Convention relating to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.
The resolution renews the request from the member states of the United Nations not to recognize any of the measures and measures that violate international law taken by the occupation in the occupied Golan.
Yesterday, the committee adopted, by an overwhelming majority, five resolutions in favor of the Palestinian cause, the most important of which is the resolution concerned with supporting Palestinian refugees, which includes the mandate of UNRWA.
