Landshut / Lovosice - A 51-year-old from Landshut * was amazed on Tuesday (November 9th).

He left his luxury SUV on the side of the road with the engine on and began loading goods from the trunk.

A thief grabbed the car and fled to the Czech Republic.

At around 11 a.m., the 51-year-old parked his Audi Q 7 on Stethaimer Strasse in Landshut.

He let the engine run while he unloaded his trunk.

An initially unknown thief took this opportunity and stole the SUV, which cost around 40,000 euros, from under the nose of the owner.

The car owner immediately informed the police and they initiated a large-scale manhunt.

Several patrols and even a police helicopter went in search of the luxury SUV - without success, the Lower Bavaria police wrote in a press release.

The officials decided to extend the search to the neighboring countries.

Colleagues from the Czech Republic * then discovered the Q 7 near Lovosice.

They stopped him and arrested the 20-year-old thief, a Polish citizen.

But the fugitive did not make it easy for the law enforcement officers from the neighboring country.

He repeatedly ignored the police officers' attempts to stop and even hit a passerby.

This is said to have been injured, it says in the message.

After they had him and the stolen SUV in custody, the officers examined the car.

The thief is currently still in the Czech Republic.

The public prosecutor's office in the Lower Bavarian district capital is still checking whether he will be transferred to Landshut.
