The future of Wilparting is now in the towel.

After months of negotiations, it is clear: The ducal brewery Tegernsee is leasing the property and is thus also taking over the new construction of the house, which the municipality had already considered demolishing.

Construction will start in 2022.

Irschenberg

- The Gasthof zum Moar in Wilparting has been closed for almost four years.

And it took at least as long for the Irschenberg community, which owns the property, to find a partner who wants to support the proposed concept.

According to Mayor Klaus Meixner, the fact that it has now become the Ducal Brewery Tegernsee is “a good solution for the community”.

Because this not only completes the hanging game that has been going on since 2017, it even resolves it well.

“We worked together very well and based on trust, and we did so over a short period of time,” reports Meixner.

What Brauhaus managing director Christian Wagner confirms: "We had good discussions at eye level."

The municipality had to provide a guarantee

As reported, the municipality took over the traditional Moarhof property right next to the well-known pilgrimage church in Wilparting in mid-2011 as part of a guarantee that had become due after the Köll family who owned it had got into financial difficulties. The aim was to save the property from the foreclosure auction and to keep it in local hands. At first, operations continued there, but with the reconstruction plans of the municipalities, an end was in sight. The economy has been closed since the end of 2017.

The earlier plans for the community to lease it directly to a landlord have been shattered in view of the costs - the plan is to demolish and rebuild the front section, with the threshing floor and hall remaining in place.

Now the Gasthof zum Moar is leased for 99 years.

In 2020, the tender ran for this - the brewery started negotiations.

"Good solution for the community"

For Meixner, it is a good solution to have found a partner who comes from the district, has tradition and who also appreciates the ideal value of this place.

Because the goal of creating an economy here that is not aimed at a monetary clientele, but also attracts locals, has not been ticked off.

This should be achieved with the traditional Tegernsee lakes.

New building and lots of ideas

Brewery boss Anna Herzogin in Bavaria is aware of this.

“It's a special place,” she says.

“And we want to bring it back to life.” You can imagine a lot: a natural playground, petting zoo, farm garden and a pond are initial ideas.

In the medium term, a farm shop and a farmers market could perhaps be added.

The new gastronomy - equipped with a hall and threshing floor, beer garden, guest rooms and rooms for managers and staff - wants to put the pilgrimage church back in the spotlight - with regular church services, baptisms and weddings.

How much the brewery has to invest for this is not mentioned.

But based on earlier discussions in the local council, there should be a good four to five million euros in the room.

According to Wagner, planning and architecture are expected to take six months so that construction can begin in 2022.

The construction time will be around one and a half years.

It is still unclear what will become of Franz Xaver Köll.

As reported, the former owner and pensioner still lives in the house and, as a sacristan, looks after the pilgrimage church of St. Marinus and Anianus as he has done decades before.

There was agreement in the local council to leave him the right to live there.

But that will hardly be possible during the demolition and construction phase.

“We had several conversations with him,” says Meixner.

However, there is still no concrete solution.
