The negotiations on the traffic light coalition are entering the final spurt.

But dissatisfaction is spreading among the Greens.

The SPD wants to stick to the schedule.

Berlin - The coalition negotiations between the SPD, Greens and FDP have been going on for three weeks.

Much has not yet leaked to the public.

On Wednesday evening (November 10th), the traffic light negotiations will at least symbolically enter the final spurt: the 22 working groups will present the first results to the general secretaries of the parties around 6 p.m.

But the pressure does not decrease.

The chief negotiators want to clarify the remaining points of contention by the end of November.

But the coalition negotiations are crunching.

Traffic light coalition: Controversial issues of climate protection and financial policy

The Greens in particular have recently been frustrated by the results. There were major differences, especially when it came to climate protection. Often the Greens apparently had to work alone against the FDP and SPD, as the ARD capital studio reported, citing negotiating circles. But the Greens do not want to make any compromises when it comes to climate protection. Winfried Hermann, Green Minister of Transport in Baden-Württemberg,

therefore even warned of new elections

in the

Süddeutsche Zeitung

: "I think that all sides have to make it clear again: If we don't get together on climate protection in the next few days, there is a risk of new elections."

There also seem to be a number of points of contention when it comes to transport.

According to ARD information from the ranks of the SPD and the Greens, the FDP in particular blocked, for example with the tax subsidies for company cars.

Last but not least, there could be another crash between the parties when it comes to financial and budgetary policy: the wish lists of the individual parties are expensive, but the funds are scarce.

The final spurt of the traffic light negotiations?

Green doubts - FDP keeps a low profile

Greens chairman Annalena Baerbock said in view of these points of contention that an extension of the negotiations could not be ruled out. The warning of new elections, however, put the Greens federal manager Michael Kellner into perspective: "Of course, coalition negotiations are demanding, especially since it is a constellation that has not existed at the federal level, but it is certainly not the time to speculate about new elections," he told the

editorial network Germany.

With regard to the discontent among the Greens, SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil said that the decisive days were in the process.

“There are 300 specialist politicians from three parties who want to push through their main topics.

It's totally normal for something to get stuck - and still: it will work in the end. ”You now come to the home straight,“ where everyone makes their point of view again ”.

So far, the FDP has kept a low profile on the negotiations.

As for the schedule, FDP politician Marco Buschmann showed himself to the ARD capital studio

opposite, relaxed: “If it then takes longer, it takes longer.

Personally, I don't think that's a broken leg either. ”At the moment, however, he doesn't have the impression that things are not progressing.

SPD adheres to the traffic light schedule - Klingbeil: "Olaf Scholz after Nikolaus Kanzler"

Despite all skepticism, the SPD wants to stick to the existing schedule until the election of Chancellor. “Olaf Scholz is to be elected as the next Chancellor in the week after Nikolaus,” Klingbeil told the

Rheinische Post

on Tuesday (November 9th). “We'll discuss whether that happens on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.” The Germans, on the other hand, have less confidence in the coalition negotiations: According to a survey by the polling institute YouGov, 50 percent expect the negotiations to be extended. 10 percent even believe that they will fail.

The traffic light parties gave their working groups clear guidelines for submitting the results: the small groups up to three pages, the large groups up to five, font size 11, Calibri, line spacing 1.5.

Apart from the font size, however, no information about the results was made public.

As negotiators confirmed to the ARD capital studio, there is a strict vow of silence: If a result is divulged to the media, it must be renegotiated.
