Homs-Sana
The Directorate of Water Resources in Homs Governorate continued to carry out maintenance operations for a number of dams in the governorate ahead of the rainy season.
Engineer Ismail Ismail, director of water resources in Homs, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the directorate is currently conducting maintenance operations for a number of dams with the aim of increasing their capacity to absorb the rain stock and flood waves, if they occur.
Ismail indicated that the Qatina Dam is currently being maintained from several axes and the valve is being maintained at Talhoush Dam, in addition to isolating waterways at intersections with roads and ferries in anticipation of any heavy rain.
Ismail announced that the volume of water storage in Lake Qutina is currently 62 and a half million cubic metres, indicating that the decrease in the storage rate is due to the operation of the irrigation canals that were rehabilitated this year and irrigate more than 13,000 hectares of agricultural land in the northern countryside of Homs.
