Authorities in Paraguay arrested three people suspected of participating in the murder of a German citizen and his 15-year-old daughter in Aregua, east of Asunción.

The prosecutor in the case, Sandra Ledesma, told ABC Cardinal 730AM on Wednesday that one of the suspects faces a charge of "intentional homicide as an author" and the other two are accused of the same crime as accomplices.

The individuals, also of German origin, will also be prosecuted for transgression of the arms law.

CNN does not know if the detainees have the services of a lawyer, although Ledesma told the media that they have the right to testify in the presence of their defense.

Bernard Von Bredow and his teenage daughter were found dead in their home on October 22, the Public Ministry reported.

The main hypothesis handled by the Prosecutor's Office is that the victims knew the suspects, who intended to steal genuine Stradivarius violins along with their certificates of authenticity.

They also believe that Von Bredow was tortured to obtain information on the location of these documents, according to Ledesma.

The victim, according to the prosecution, was engaged in restoring and selling antiques.

Ledesma pointed out that the authorities seized weapons and violins in one of the suspects' homes.

It seeks to determine if these were stolen from Von Bredow.

In radio statements this Wednesday, Hugo Grance, head of the Homicide Department of the National Police, said that expert reports are being carried out to find out if the violins are original Stradivarius.

He added that they needed the certificates of the instruments to be able to sell them.

Antonio Stradivari was a famous craftsman who made string instruments in Italy, where he was active until his death in 1737.

An estimated 650 Stradivarius remain today, valued in millions of dollars.
