Sad news not only for Waldramers: The popular artisanal Advent market is falling victim to the corona pandemic, as it did in 2020.

Wolfratshausen - The artisanal Advent market in the Waldram district is no longer an insider tip.

It has been around for a good 30 years - but after 2020 it will not take place for the second time in a row.

The reason is the extremely high number of corona infections in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.

The market, which traditionally takes place on the second weekend in Advent on the forecourt of the church, is organized by the parish of St. Josef der Arbeiter and the Waldram social group.

Particularly popular: the Christmas cookies that Andrea Poloczek, Martina Steuer and Birgit Jordan contributed to the “Platzerlhimmel”.

There were 20 stalls in total in 2019, with the primary school choir, the siren choir of the Isar-Loisach cultural association and the “Sommer Sound” choir providing the musical pre-Christmas mood.

“Unfortunately there won't be any of that this year,” regrets co-organizer Astrid Leinhas-Grosch.

Christmas market in Wolfratshausen: the situation is being reassessed

And the Wolfratshauser Christkindlmarkt on the first weekend in Advent, November 26th to 28th?

It should take place as reported, but this decision was made at a time when the infection situation was much less dramatic than it is now: No 3G rule, no mask requirement, no alcohol ban - so the state government announced.

In the meantime, many municipalities in the Free State, including Rosenheim and all municipalities around the Tegernsee, have canceled their Christmas and Advent markets.

The situation is also being reassessed in the Wolfratshausen town hall.

"In consultation with other municipalities," said Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner on Thursday when asked, a decision should be made.
