Wiesbaden - Hesse's Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) has defended himself against allegations that the state government knowingly disregarded the constitution with the Corona special fund.
"I reject that on behalf of all my colleagues in the state government," he said on Thursday in the state parliament in Wiesbaden.
The government acted to the best of its knowledge and belief.
About two weeks ago, the State Court of Justice classified the multi-billion dollar financing model to cope with the corona pandemic as unconstitutional.
"This shadow budget was the Prime Minister's shadow budget," said the SPD parliamentary group leader Nancy Faeser with a view to the twelve billion, credit-financed special assets.
It was Bouffier's decision to break the constitution, the opposition leader accused the prime minister and repeated her call for Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU) to resign.
