So you first have to walk a bit on the narrow Griesfeldstraße to get to the bike path in the direction of the Vötting elementary school. ”And:Because of the barriers at the beginning of the cycle path, the children would be kept unnecessarily long on Griesfeldstraße. The parents are more than concerned and sum up: "Crossing Griesfeldstrasse is feasible for experienced road users, but life-threatening for families and children."

City contacted several times
According to Geiger, the city of Freising was "repeatedly pointed out by concerned parents" to the danger area and asked to take immediate action.
But so far nothing has happened.
That is why the parents' initiative has now been founded.
It is their concern that, from now on, motorists should be warned by warning signs and flashing systems of people crossing Griesfeldstrasse at the end of the cycle path.
As further immediate measures, the cutting back of the embankment greening and the removal of the site fences on Griesfeldstrasse for better visibility and free travel are required.
The possibility of a lane marking in the crossing area should also be checked.
The goals
“However, the aim must be for a set of traffic lights to ensure that pedestrians and cyclists can safely cross Griesfeldstrasse,” write the spokespersons for the parents' initiative.
And: "In order to optimize the flow of traffic for all road users and to overcome the narrow streets in Griesfeldstrasse, the construction of a foot and bicycle bridge is essential." The TUM anniversary bridge opened in 2018 over Thalhauser Strasse, which is the heart of the campus with the Hans -Eisenmann-Zentrum can serve as a model here.

In the area of Griesfeld- / Gregor-Mendel-Straße, a sign saying “Warning pedestrians” will also be installed.
In order to further address the complainants' concerns, an investigation is currently being carried out on the basis of the mobility officer’s proposal options into the implementation of a provisional crossing aid in the area of Gregor-Mendel-Strasse and Griesfeldstrasse to improve pedestrian and bicycle crossings.
