Engetried - The big holiday is this Thursday, November 11th, for all fools in the region - but actually only in theory, because due to the currently rising corona numbers, a carnival season is threatened with cancellation for the second time in a row. While some carnival clubs and gardens from the Unterallgäu have already thrown the gun in the grain, the Engetried carnival club is still optimistic and is preparing various highlights.
“We have already positioned ourselves well for a great carnival season. Despite all the current issues, our Elferrat cannot be forbidden from being in a good mood, ”the club recently announced on its Facebook page. The committee, penalty council, guard and minigarde - a team of around 50 people in total - radiate optimism not only in social media, but also in the local clubhouse, which is shared with the musicians.
The Guards have been meeting here once a week since July to rehearse the steps.
In the hot phase shortly before the start of Mardi Gras, additional training sessions are to be interspersed in some cases on Saturdays.
What does such a unit look like?
After a 20-minute warm-up, the steps from the last lesson are repeated, and then it's “practice, practice, practice”, as Jule Schindele explains.
And the 31-year-old knows what she's talking about: she trained the Engetrieder show dance for eleven years and she was also a guardian.

In view of her experience, the current Corona time is all the more difficult for her - a time of "total uncertainty", as the thoroughbred fool says.
Normally, her carnival calendar is filled with events to the limit by the summer at the latest, but that is different this year.
“Nobody can promise you at the moment,” regrets the organizer.
What is planned in Engetried
But the carnival club is currently one of those who want to take the risk of planning. As club president Armin Prexl explains, a tent is also being planned for the coming season, which will celebrate its "opening" on Sooty Friday, February 25, 2022, at a tent and possibly club evening. There are also plans for a moving day followed by a party in the tent on Shrove Sunday, as well as a move with sweepstakes on Tuesday. The association explains that the bands are already booked. According to the current status, plans are being made with a 3G Plus scheme. Unlike in previous years, the tent should be a bit smaller, because more space is required for admission and additional security for the 3G Plus checks. The dam that is currently being built in the community is not affecting the planning, says Armin Prexl.
Despite all the uncertainties, the mood in the Engetrieder carnival camp continues unabated: The show dance consists of 19 people this year, more than ever before. The generation change has also been mastered well, says Jule Schindele. Now Elferrat, guard girls and committee hope that not only the corona season makes a carnival season possible, but also that other clubs and organizations can join in, in order to be able to celebrate the fifth season again after a year of abstinence. In any case, the Faschingsgesellschaft Engetried is in the starting blocks: "To make the impossible possible even in difficult situations", that was the strength of the association even before Corona, explains Jule Schindele in conclusion.
