The last president of the apartheid regime in South Africa, Frederick Willem de Klerk, died today (Thursday) at the age of 85. The de Klerk Foundation, the country's last white leader, said he died at a hospital in his hometown of Cape Town, after a battle with health cancer.
De Clark worked to end racial segregation in the country and won the Nobel Peace Prize, which he shared with Nelson Mandela, the first president of post-apartheid South Africa.
