The criticism of the lack of signage for the Guglhör circular route continues.

Now the patron has spoken out, who co-financed a new bridge that has closed a gap on the round.

Jörg Steinleitner, Mayor of Riegsee, who rejects billboards, defends the approach.

Riegsee

- Andreas Goetz feels “personally affected and affected” - and is “appalled at how you deal with donations”.

Despite his financial commitment, Goetz didn't want a fuss about himself, he doesn't talk about the sum he gave;

but the subject drives him.

He is the benefactor with a second residence in Murnau, who has contributed a considerable portion of the costs for the new bridge on the Guglhör-Rundweg, for which the Murnau Beautification Association and the municipality of Riegsee, whose corridor is largely affected, also made a financial contribution.

The small community of Riegsee cannot cope with extensive maintenance

But now Goetz is annoyed. Because: The tour has not shown any gaps for a few weeks like in the months before, thanks to his help there is a stable metal bridge, so to speak, in a luxury version - but what he sees as the “absolutely extraordinary” circular route, a popular classic in the Blue Land, which is also very popular with guests, can only be used to a limited extent for tourism purposes. Riegsee accepted liability for the bridge in a compromise solution, but refuses to allow the route to be signposted as it used to be. Mayor Jörg Steinleitner refers to the reasons for the poor condition in some areas, the liability risk in the event of accidents and the necessary, costly maintenance that his small community could not cope with. The fact that the circuit has a brand new bridge but no more signage, who shows the way for those who are unfamiliar with the area, had called critics on the scene.

Patron reacts angry and "deeply disappointed"

Patron Goetz, who likes to go on the tour often and with pleasure, also reacts angrily and "deeply disappointed".

Goetz assures that he donated in the belief that “the path will be restored in its old condition” - with a new bridge, with signs.

He refers to an email sent to the mayor on September 3, in which, just after the installation, he described his hope “that the bridge will now also be accepted by the population and tourist hikers.

Please bring the Guglhör circular route back into its old form on the website ”.

Even then, he did not find out that there was no thought of signing the way again.

Goetz feels “naturally” deceived.

Without the patron "the bridge would probably not stand now"

Steinleitner protests against the appearance that he did not play with open cards: “Mr. Goetz gave us the impression from the start that it is important to him that he can personally use the hiking trail again and that this is the motive for him his donation is. ”Signage was“ never mentioned in our conversations. The fact that he now brings into play that he wants to promote tourism in our region in general is new to us ”. If so, “we are sorry, which, by the way, does not change our gratitude towards him. Without Mr. Goetz the bridge would probably not stand now ”. Steinleitner refers to the beautification association to underline that Riegsee "always played with open cards". He knew from the start that the signposting was not in the interests of the Riegsee.

Beautification Association chairman knew about non-signage

Wilhelm Müller, for whom the Guglhör tour has always been familiar territory, confirms that he knew the Riegsee sensitivities.

Steinleitner told him "that he no longer wants the route to be marked on maps and that there are no more signs".

The chairman of the Beautification Association, which Goetz has just joined, continues to regret this decision.

“But it was important to us that the path remains intact.” That is why the association donated anyway.

Riegsee has "only a few tourist facilities"

Riegsee is sticking to his course - Steinleitner underpins this in a comprehensive statement with which he responded to a daily newspaper request.

An excerpt from it: "We as a small, not very financially strong community see ourselves incapable of taking responsibility for the maintenance of the path and for its liability."

“Tourism is not an elementary factor for us.” They were chosen to represent the interests of the Riegsee.

In the foreground are "other - actually vital - investments".

The community is open to ideas - if Riegsee does not suffer any disadvantage as a result

When it comes to liability for the Guglhör circular route, the following applies: volunteers.

If someone has an idea “how we can get the route into operation without Riegsee suffering disadvantages in the end”, then the doors to the town hall would be open.

And: "So if a neighboring community, for which tourism is an elementary factor, is ready to take responsibility for the route," explains Steinleitner, "then we are happy about a sign".

Goetz will continue to enjoy the Guglhör tour in the future.

He knows the way.
