Dagmar's life has never been really easy.
Shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the zoology technician fled the GDR and began a new life in the West.
Over the decades, the 67-year-old became the mother of eight children and the grandmother of 28 grandchildren.
In addition to financial problems, Dagmar was also plagued by illnesses.
The pensioner suffered from the lung disease COPD, which caused her to have massive breathing problems and had to be hospitalized at times.

Although a vaccination could protect Dagmar from a severe course, she is afraid of the injection.
