The federal government still in office is holding back on new corona measures, the possible future chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) only wants to comment on the corona pandemic in the Bundestag today - meanwhile, the number of new infections in Germany is increasing rapidly.
Now the Saxon Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) is addressing the traffic light parties sharply and brings a cancellation of the Christmas markets into play.
Saxony is one of the worst affected regions in Germany.
"I think that is a culpable hesitation, which does not do justice to this situation in Germany", said Kretschmer on RTL / ntv "Frühstart" about the previous reactions of the traffic light parties to the pandemic situation.
He called for immediate decisions from the federal and state governments before the new Infection Protection Act came into force on November 25th.
"The way the new government that is now opening is acting, it is far too slow."
"How can a traffic light coalition come up with the idea of telling the population that it is over"
If the dynamic of the infection continues until November 25 as it has in the past two weeks, that would be a "terrible" development, said Kretschmer.
“The child has already fallen into the well.
Now it's a matter of getting it out. ”He criticized again that the SPD, the Greens and the FDP want to let the epidemic emergency run out.
"How can a traffic light coalition come up with the idea of telling the population that it is over."
However, Kretschmer does not mention that his party friend, Health Minister Jens Spahn, had campaigned for the epidemic emergency to come to an end.
In view of the infection dynamics, Christmas markets would also have to be banned this season.
“You can't imagine standing at the Christmas market, drinking mulled wine and everything in the hospitals is over and you're fighting for the last of your resources,” said Kretschmer.
The federal and state governments would now have to relieve mayors, district administrators and market operators from this difficult decision.
Low vaccination rate, high incidence
The Prime Minister also spoke out in favor of paying the hospitals an empty bed flat rate again if they keep beds free for corona patients.
Spa and rehabilitation clinics should be set up quickly as auxiliary hospitals.
He also announced that Saxony would now more than double the number of mobile vaccination teams.
Saxony has the lowest vaccination rate nationwide - only a little more than half of the people have been vaccinated.
The incidence in the Free State is now 521.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the intensive care units are reaching their capacity limits.
