Interview | Guan Haoming: Hong Kong people "return" the Central Committee will let go of the legal plan to explain the Chen Tongjia incident

Guan Mu is well-known for assisting Taiwanese murder suspect Chen Tongjia. In an interview with "Hong Kong 01", he said that he did not communicate with Chen Tongjia in the Legislative Council election. He did not think that once he was elected, it would reduce the chance of the other party going to Taiwan to surrender himself. Emphasize that the main obstacle now lies in Taiwan's refusal to issue visas.

He pointed out that if he is successfully elected, he will continue to seek legal solutions to resolve the Chen Tongjia incident, but he will not promote the resumption of the amendment to the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance.

He also pointed out that entering the parliament is not to engage in politics, but to focus on solving people's livelihood, including issues such as population aging and youth education.

"God bless me for running for the Legislative Council"

After the reunification of the Legislative Council, there has never been a religious group member who has been elected to the parliament. Guan Haoming, who participated in the election for the first time, said that the religious sector is an important stakeholder in the social welfare, medical and education sectors, and there are more than 100 schools under the Anglican Church. He hopes to straighten out government policies through the platform of the Legislative Council. “The education sector may only look at problems from the perspective of teachers, but the religious sector will give more opinions from school-running organizations, hoping to have some diverse voices.” He described religion as the spiritual pillar of mankind. I hope that the government will strengthen its mental health work. He represents not only Christianity, but also the other five major denominations. This election is supported by leaders of different religions.

Regarding the question of the "politicization of religion" caused by the election of clergy, Guan Haoming pointed out that there are also pastors in the British and American congresses. They are not in the parliament for political reasons. They "mainly focus on people's livelihood issues", especially the aging population, youth education, etc. issue.

Guan Haoming’s participation in the election committee is regarded as the “national team”. He said that the most important thing is to safeguard “one country, two systems” and national sovereignty security. “The national team also has different voices. The citizens are anxious and concentrate on resolving deep-seated conflicts." As for whether he was "blessed" to run for the election, Guan Mu said with a smile that he was the Beijing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and of course he was blessed, "but the main reason is that God blessed me."

He believes that if Hong Kong people "return" in the future, the central government will gradually relax its measures against Hong Kong.

As for how to follow up the Chen Tongjia incident if he is elected, Guan Haoming said that whether he is in the Legislative Council or not, he wants to resolve the incident every day. He also plans to study other legal methods in Parliament with the Department of Justice to allow Chen Tongjia to bear the blame.

He said that it is not suitable for the "fugitive offenders" amendment to be re-introduced. "Hong Kong has suffered a serious injury in the past two years."
