Iranian, Algerian FMs discuss strengthening bilateral relations

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra discussed in a phone call today the strengthening of bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East and Africa.

The Iranian IRNA news agency reported that Abdollahian praised, during the phone call, the Algerian government's vote against the Zionist entity's membership in the African Union, pointing out that it is a commendable step.

Abdullahian also noted Algeria's position on Syria's return to the Arab League.

Earlier, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed his call not to interfere in Syria's internal affairs, saying that his country "confirmed that it is time for Syria to return to the Arab League without interfering in its internal affairs."

Abdullahian also referred to the strong political relations between Iran and Algeria, expressing his hope to expand the fields of cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Algerian minister expressed his country's aspiration for the success of the talks on reviving the Iranian nuclear agreement, pointing to the importance of strengthening trade cooperation and increasing the volume of exchange between the two countries.

The two ministers also referred to the recent developments on the Libyan arena, with an emphasis on resolving the crisis with the participation of all spectra of the Libyan people and away from foreign interference.
