Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is visiting Germany.

On Wednesday (November 10th) the 81-year-old met Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Angela Merkel, among others.

Berlin - The Danes love their queen!

Margrethe II is considered to be disarmingly honest, she has a pronounced talent and understanding of art and acknowledges her weaknesses (the 81-year-old smokes up to 60 cigarettes a day).

And the monarch obviously also has a sense of humor, as was once again clear at the start of her four-day visit to Germany.

It is a busy program that lies ahead of Queen Margrethe *.

In Berlin she is supported by her son Crown Prince Frederik (53).

The dates range from cultural visits to meetings with business people.

The two are accompanied by a delegation of 52 business representatives.

On Friday the Queen will travel to Munich alone.

The tight schedule on Wednesday couldn’t affect her good mood.

In a powder-blue costume and with a beaming smile, the royal visitor presented herself with Crown Prince Frederik on the steps of Bellevue Palace, where they were greeted with military honors by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender.

Then it went to the Charité, where the queen had a mobile phone for stroke patients explained to her.

Only last year, her younger son Prince Joachim (52) had an emergency operation after a stroke while on vacation in southern France.

Charité boss Heyo K. Kroemer was impressed by the royal guest: “Very friendly, very interested.

All in all, a great visit. ”Crown Prince Frederik was similarly focused and interested in visiting the Vattenfall power plants.

On Wednesday there was still a walk through the Brandenburg Gate. In front of the Neue Wache, the memorial for the victims of war and tyranny, the royals wanted to lay a wreath. In the evening there is a state banquet in her honor. In Munich, Margrethe can look forward to visits to the Glyptothek and the Academy of Fine Arts, among other things. After all, the 81-year-old wanted to become an archaeologist or artist before the crown intervened with a change in the regulation of the succession to the throne.

The passion for the subtle has remained: The Queen regularly designs costumes and sets for the Royal Theater.

Most recently she worked on the literary adaptation Ehrengard for the streaming service Netflix.

“I'm not a grandmother who sits around knitting,” Margrethe once said in an interview.

And that's good!
