Köck made it clear that the share of second homes in Rottach-Egern is currently around twenty percent.

The community had dealt intensively with the topic and decided to follow the example of Berchtesgaden.
They sought legal advice and refrained from defining the entire place as a general tourist area.

In cooperation with the tourist information, the actual areas with tourist development were determined.

And managing director Gerhard Hofmann reminded that you can also check via the residents' registration office whether an existing building is being used as a second home or not. Franz Josef Maier (CSU), himself a hotelier and restaurateur in Seestrasse, was informed upon request that the permit requirement for any changes in use also includes the possibility that these can also be approved - for example in case of hardship or if there is family or successor the factories change something.
“Nothing is set in stone,” said Köck.
“But we now have the option of approving changes in usage or rejecting them.
