Geretsried - Until the summer of 2020, the landlady Theresia Knoll ran the “Banana Joe” restaurant at Egerlandstrasse 82.
To the delight of their regular guests, a new tenant was soon found for the cult pub.
At the beginning of 2021 Frank Roeder decided to open a darts club in the "Banana Joe" with the support of his friends Udo Schuster and Richard Jungnickl.
“I actually wanted to open a bar in Spain,” admits Roeder.
But then he found out that a new tenant was being sought for the vacant space on Egerlandstrasse.
On the spur of the moment, he renovated the rooms with the master painter Udo Schuster and founded the DC Banana Joe darts club.
Since June 2021, the 53-year-old has been able to serve beer from the Augustiner brewery and cocktails to guests who just want to drink and chat at the bar or in the beer garden behind.
Gustavo pizzas, Viennese veal sausages and small snacks are also on the menu.
Prices and times
Frank Roeder, who works full-time in security management, arranges the opening times flexibly.
On working days, with the exception of the rest day on Wednesday, it is officially open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
At the start of the weekend on Friday, it will be served between 4 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
"If necessary, we are also open until 5 am," said Roeder.
On Saturday and Sunday there is a veal sausage breakfast from 10 a.m.
The drink prices are cheap compared to other Geretsried restaurants: Halbe beer costs only 2.90 euros, cocktails 5.50 euros.
Barbecues and birthday parties
In summer, the "Banana Joe" provides a grill.
"Guests can bring their meat and then order drinks from us," promised Roeder.
Birthday parties, company celebrations and christenings are also possible in the cult pub.
The age of the clientele ranges between 12 and 99 years.
For example, young people can have a “mother's slip” issued and are then looked after by the staff while they are playing darts.
