Three senior members of the Mossad's equivalent to the rank of general in the IDF announced their retirement from the organization due to organizational changes and a split between divisions ordered by the new head of the Mossad, David Barnea, it was reported tonight (Thursday) in News 13.
D., his friend and former commander, told "Israel Today" with Barnea's appointment to the position that "Dedi will make far-reaching changes in the ministry. The Mossad today faces not simple operational challenges that were not there before. If you do not know how to look at the world as it is today, "And he does not know how to make the necessary changes. You will go back - and he understands that very well. He sleeps not to mark V, but because there is simply no other choice."
Barnea was appointed head of the Mossad last May by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who presented him with the Prime Minister's Award for the Mossad's operations. In early June, he took office with the retirement of Yossi Cohen after 38 years.
The head of the Mossad served in the IDF as a fighter in the General Staff Reconnaissance Squadron and holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of New York.
He also served as a senior business manager at an investment bank in Israel.
He enlisted in the institution in 1996 for a collection officers course and was assigned to an operational division.
After that, he was commander of operational units in Israel and abroad. Between the years 2019-2013, he commanded the Junction Division at the Mossad, where four Israel Defense Forces awards were given to the division headed by him.
