A senior officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of sexual offenses and invasion of the privacy of female soldiers and maids in his unit.

This, after it was revealed that for a long time he had secretly documented female soldiers in the girls' residences in the unit - this was reported this morning (Thursday) in Maariv.

Apparently, the senior officer used photographic equipment that apparently "implanted" in the girls' residence.

As far as is known, the senior officer's vehicle contained electronic equipment and evidence linking him to the fact.

The officer is also suspected of fraudulently transferring intimate photos of female soldiers who served under his command to his cell phone.

Yesterday, his detention was extended until next Wednesday, in order to continue the investigation against him.

The military tribunal banned the publication of the officer's name and the unit in which he serves and in which the acts were committed.

This is due to the fact that the investigation is still ongoing.

It is estimated that these details will be published later.

The investigation was opened following a complaint by one of the female soldiers in the unit, who suspected that female soldiers in the girls' residence were photographed illegally.

At this point there is no suspicion or evidence that the photos were circulated online by the senior officer.

This is a very serious and unusual case due to the fact that it is a high-ranking officer and has a significant role in the unit in which the offenses were allegedly committed.

At this stage there are no other suspects in the affair, and according to the assessments and suspicions attributed to him, the senior officer acted alone.

The IDF confirmed the details and suspicions attributed to the officer. The IDF spokesman said that no further details could be provided at this stage due to the fact that the investigation is ongoing.
