Starnberg - watch the starry sky over a home planetarium on a romantic evening at home, bake the cake in a football, princess, flower or gingerbread form for a children's birthday party or finally try out boules with friends right on the lakeshore.

The Starnberg City Library provides an answer to all of these scenarios with its "Library of Things".

67 different items from the subject areas “Technology & Gaming”, “Leisure & Outdoor”, “House, Office & Garden” and “Creative and Discovering” can currently be borrowed.

“There are both items that are rarely or only used once.

But we also have items that you would like to get to know first, so that you can try out and discover new media, ”explains library manager Ilona Obermeier.

All you need to borrow is a valid library card.

The items can be borrowed for four weeks and renewed up to two times.

Initially, a maximum of two items may be borrowed per library card.

With the Library of Things, the Starnberg City Library makes a contribution to the fulfillment of the UN sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda. Above all, the ideals of the sharing community are supported.

The library of things protects the environment, since the objects are used multiple times and therefore fewer objects have to be produced in contrast to single use.

"The Starnberg City Library is taking on a pioneering role, as we are the first library in the district and the region to offer a library of things," says Ilona Obermeier.

The development was made possible by the funding program “WissensWandel”, which is part of the digital program for libraries and archives within Neustart Kultur.

The 3G regulation currently applies to visits to the Starnberg city library.

Changes can be made at any time depending on the infection rate.
