On January 6, 2021, supporters of former US President Donald Trump stormed the seat of Congress.
The current investigative committee suspects that Trump has incited the people - and is calling for documents from his term in office to be handed over.
With an urgent motion, the Republican wants to try again at the last minute to prevent this.
The court has already rejected the first urgent application
The documents are to be released on Friday evening - with the intended temporary injunction, this is to be delayed.
The responsible federal court in Washington had already rejected an application from Trump on Tuesday to block the release.
The motion filed on Thursday said the court should approve an injunction to allow a renewed appeal against the release.
It is a matter of achieving a "short break" in this regard in order to make the appointment possible.
Trump has insisted on the so-called executive privilege in his lawsuit. This is the president's prerogative to withhold certain information from Congress or the courts. However, the court in the capital Washington stated that executive privilege exists to protect the executive branch and not an individual who is also no longer president. The privilege does not exist "forever," it said. The White House has already announced that Trump's successor, Joe Biden, will not stop the transfer of documents from the National Archives.
The storm on the Capitol in early January killed five people, including a police officer.
Trump had to face impeachment proceedings for the attack because he had previously incited his supporters in a speech.
At the end of the trial, however, he was acquitted.
The intelligence committee had recently summoned former high-ranking employees of the former president.
