Syria will participate in the 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization “UNESCO”, which started in Paris on the 9th of this November and will continue until the twenty-fourth of it, along with representatives of 193 member states of the organization.
The conference will discuss multiple issues concerned with education and sustainable development goals, including the fourth goal related to the quality of education, science, artificial intelligence, and tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Minister of Education and Chairman of the Syrian National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, said in a speech to the conference: Despite all the difficulties imposed by the war on Syria, education did not stop there, and that about 4 million students are currently pursuing their education in 13,500 schools, indicating that the government is working in cooperation With the civil society to restore schools destroyed by terrorism.
Tabbaa stated that the educational process continued despite the challenges of the fierce war that the country was exposed to or during the Corona pandemic, expressing his hope that the Syrian experience will be the focus of global attention and support so that the international community proves its credibility and its true desire to support education.
Minister Tabbaa pointed out that the outcomes of the educational process appear through the success stories recorded by Syrian students in their countries or the countries to which they travel.
The Syrian delegation to Paris includes representatives from the Ministries of Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research, Culture and Information, and the Syrian Ambassador to UNESCO, Lamia Shakur.
