At short notice, the Schongauer Faschingsgesellschaft (SFG) canceled its event for the official start of the fifth season.
What the season should look like this year is something that the SFG still wants to wait and see.
Schongau
- The official invitation to all members of the Schongau Carnival Society for November 11th was hardly out when the appointment in the traditional costume home for the start of the carnival was canceled again. Presentation of the Mini, Youth and Prince Guard 2022 with the “Royal Court Chapel”: It was planned as a festival that a real carnival fool cannot imagine without the appointment calendar.
In fact, the decision in the board of directors to cancel at short notice would not have been made easy, says Alexander Blasi.
The first president of the Schongauer Faschingsgesellschaft (SFG) speaks of hot discussions that took place on Monday evening - on the very day when it was already clear: The hospital traffic light will turn red. In many areas, 2G will apply immediately.
"I do not like to answer for that", Blasi knows about the burden of his office in the current situation.
At the beginning of December it will be decided whether there will be a big carnival ball
Advance ticket sales for the enthronement ball would not have taken place on Thursday, as usual anyway.
The decision as to whether there can and should be such an event in Carnival 2022: The Carnival Society does not want to make it until the beginning of December, "that is our absolute deadline," said Blasi.
After all, the organization team needs a lot of lead time to get everything under control for such an XXL ball.
And there is still a deadline: At the beginning of January the final decision is to be made as to whether the Schongau Gaudi worm will meander through the old town.
Blasi keeps everything open, but in an interview with the local newspaper he doesn't sound very optimistic.
At the moment it looks dreary for the carnival in Schongau
In fact, should there actually be a procession on Mardi Gras Sunday, it should be dreary anyway on a large stage in front of the Ballenhaus: There is no prince couple due to the current occasion, the mini-guard has hardly been able to train due to Corona turmoil.
And the youth guard has also stopped training this week due to the current rules for over twelve-year-olds.
The Prinzengarde alone continues to train in compliance with the strictest rules, according to Mardi Gras President Alexander Blasi.
"Here all the guards girls and the trainer have been vaccinated or recovered." In fact, it looks pretty bleak at the moment for a carnival in Schongau.
