An unannouncing night to say the least passed yesterday (Wednesday to Thursday) over Danny Abdia when he recorded an embarrassing 0-point statistic in the Washington Wizards ’win over Cleveland.
At the same time, the Israeli received a very large paragon tonight from the "Bleacher Report" website, which chose him as the most surprising player in the Wizards since the opening of the NBA season.
"His rookie season ended with a shocking ankle fracture. Although the injury was not as severe as in similar cases of Gordon Hayward and Paul George, it is no less impressive that the forward returned for the opening of his second season in the league with no signs of injury," the selection explained.
"In fact, Abdia plays as if his athleticism has improved, just the opposite of what is expected after injuries of this kind."
The US website also said: "Everyone remembers how long it took Hayward to regain the jump, and here Abdia manages to get to the ring more often and finishes better from that range than before he was injured, including some highlights.
Washington traded Russell Westbrook in trade for what feels like a half-staff cap, but so far Abdia is good enough to earn over 20 minutes on average per game, in a much deeper rotation for the Wizards.
And he did it mostly through athletic outbursts that were hard to see coming. "
