A Syrian delegation headed by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil visited the India and Vatican pavilions at the "Expo Dubai 2020" and held a number of meetings in them.
During his visit to the India Pavilion, the delegation, which included the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ayman Susan, and the Syrian Ambassador to the UAE, the Commissioner-General of the Syrian Pavilion, Dr. Ghassan Abbas, met the director of the pavilion, Govina Chadha Jal, where she reviewed the most important exhibits of industrial and technological products, expressing her country's readiness to develop cooperation with Syria.
For his part, Minister Al-Khalil referred to the strong relations between Syria and India on the economic level, indicating that India is one of Syria's first three trading partners, as the volume of trade exchange with it exceeded $200 million.
Minister Al-Khalil pointed out that work is currently underway to reactivate cooperation between businessmen in both countries and to resume relations with a number of Indian investment companies, especially banks with which Syria has previously cooperated in financing a number of projects.
During his visit to the Vatican Pavilion, the Syrian delegation met with the Deputy Commissioner General of the Pavilion, Thomas Traveni, who gave an explanation of its exhibits, including three historical manuscripts over 500 years old.
In turn, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade pointed out that Syria is the cradle of religions, from which Christianity was launched to the world and has always been a symbol of coexistence between different religions, civilizations and cultures.
